My Vision.

I believe few obstacles can resist the power of nurses calling for change.

Hello Texas Nurses!

I'm Amy McCarthy and I am your Texas Nurses Association President-Elect. As a nurse leader, I have spent my entire career working with nurses across our nation in an effort to create cultures and programs that not only highlight the creativity and tenacity of nurses, but bring forward the spirit of innovation that can be found in every single one of us.

With a background in women's health, marketing & communications, and organizational leadership, I have a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities present in healthcare. One of my key areas of focus in this space has been creating more positive and supportive environments for healthcare workers, so that they can confidently and safely care for their patients. I have also spent the last two years serving on ANA Board of Directors, representing the 5.2 million nurses across the United States and collaborating on issues such as workplace violence, safer staffing, racism in nursing and increasing engagement at the state and national level.

In the past few years, we have seen the incredible impact that nurses can have on their environments, and I firmly believe that this is just the beginning. We have the power to change the world, but it starts with conversations. It's only when we listen and engage in the tough conversations that we can begin to work through the issues of burnout, the mental health crisis, racial inequality, and the state of the environments in which we work.

As your next TNA President, I promise to never stop listening and to continue engaging with the nursing community to ensure that the issues that matter most to us are always brought to the table – and that we find solutions. I believe that few obstacles can resist the power of thousands of nurses calling for change. Together, we can build a brighter future for ourselves and our patients.

Texas nurses, this is our moment. This is our opportunity to shape the future of nursing in Texas. Together, we can make a difference.

I look forward to working with you as we work through the challenges of building a healthier healthcare workforce!
